What is Financial Literacy?

The ability to understand how money works in the world is a fundamental skill that all individuals need – regardless of job function, industry, or age. Even more important, however, is understanding how to earn, manage, spend and invest that money.

Financial Literacy is a subject that is often overlooked by students during their time in college. One of our featured speakers, Gene Natali, believes that financial literacy is, “the missing semester in many students’ education” and should be taught in a simplistic way.

When learned at an early age, the understanding of these concepts can be a powerful tool that  can help individuals achieve financial freedom

Financial Literacy Fast Facts:

  • 54% of millennials say that debt is their “biggest financial concern”

  • 46% of Americans have less than $10,000 saved for retirement; more than 25% have no savings at all

  • Over 75% of American families say they live paycheck to paycheck

The purpose of this conference is to introduce students from all backgrounds to some of fundamental financial concepts and tasks that comprise this broad skill-set. Join us on Friday, October 21st, and take the first step towards financial freedom.
